Greetings from the President

Dear all beloved members,

As the 12th president, I am honored to lead the society with a new executive team for the next two years. I pledge to do my utmost during my tenure to ensure that the members, executives, and the Korean language education community grow together.

The International Network for Korean Language and Culture, now 23 years young since its establishment in 2001, owes its current stature to the dedicated efforts of past presidents, especially President Sung Kychul, who nurtured it during its formative years, and those who wholeheartedly contributed during its growth.

Our society, bearing the name "The International Network for Korean Language and Culture," aims to expand and deepen the realms of education and research in line with its global and Korean language and cultural focus, adapting to the evolving times. Beyond that, it is imperative that we actively engage in shaping the changes in language and cultural education. I see the expansion into the field of translation and interpretation by former President Lim Hyungjae as a testament to such endeavors. Internationally, our society must serve as a bridge between regions in need of mutual growth in Korean language and culture education. In academic gatherings, we should not only address changes in Korean language education domestically and internationally but also consider foreign policies affecting Korean education and changes in Koreans' perceptions, thus presenting new challenges in Korean language and culture research and education.

Starting from 2024, our society will share the academic journal, Journal of the International Network for Korean Language and Culture, with our sister society, The International Network for Korean Interpretation and Translation. This initiative is expected to broaden the horizons of academic activities and fulfill our responsibilities in academia.

I look forward to meeting each of you at various academic events, big and small, in the future. Your continuous support, advice, and assistance are indispensable on our society's journey. Thank you very much.

Lee Mihye,

President of the International Network for Korean Language and Culture (INK)
