A Study on the Starting Point of Korean Translation History - Under the Perspective of Social Organization Theory -
This study reexamines Korean translation history through the viewpoint of social organization theory, departing from conventional methodologies focused on Korean linguistics. It emphasizes the importance of understanding the social reasons behind translation during key historical moments, notably the "Yuan interference period" in the Goryeo dynasty. This era was pivotal for initiating significant improvements in translation and interpretation systems with Yuan China, leading to the establishment of institutions like ‘Tongmun-gwan’ and ‘Sayeokwon.’ These developments, reflecting the principles of social organization theory, were instrumental in systematically managing public translation tasks, thereby providing a deeper insight into the evolution of Korean translation from a societal perspective.
